Jet pack guru teaches amateurs how to take to the sky (Yahoo! News)

Over the course of human history, few forms of crazy?transportation inspire as much lust as the almighty jet pack. The idea of a personal device that allows you to fly like a bird is simply one of the coolest concepts ever thought up. However, due to their somewhat unwieldy flight characteristics, the few models that actual exist aren't the easiest things to pilot. Luckily, jet pack expert Eric Scott is here to help, and the well-known stuntman has even begun giving personal training sessions to new jet pack users.

Scott is well known in the small world of jet packing, and has made his name through several extraordinary stunts ? including an incredibly risky flight over the Royal Gorge in 2008. So when amateur jet pack enthusiast Stuart Ross wanted to learn how to properly fly the complex machines, he turned to the master. Over the course of 3 days, Scott taught Ross how to jet around without falling face-first into the dirt.

As you can see in the video above, Ross's training includes being tethered to safety harness to ensure any unexpected spills are minor for both the pilot and the expensive machinery on his back. As the video notes, he wouldn't be confused with Buzz Lightyear just yet, but he's already a better jet packer than any of us likely will ever be.
